Command line and in game options

There are several Warcraft III command line options available. These are primarily used for troubleshooting purposes. For the vast majority of systems, we recommend running the game in standard mode with no command line changes.

First, be sure you have patched the game to the latest version. You can get the patch by connecting to Battle.net or by downloading a stand-alone patch from http://www.blizzard.com/patches .

Once the game is patched, you can right click on the Warcraft III shortcut on your desktop and choose Properties. In the target box after the last quotation, press the space bar once and type in the command lines below:

Windowed Mode:
    Your target line should look something like "C:\Program Files\Warcraft III\Warcraft III.exe" -window

OpenGL Video Mode:
    Your target line should look something like "C:\Program Files\Warcraft III\Warcraft III.exe" -opengl

Software Transform and Lighting Video Mode:
    Your target line should look something like "C:\Program Files\Warcraft III\Warcraft III.exe" -swtnl

Start the game in Reign of Chaos Mode even though you have the expansion installed:
    Your target line should look something like "C:\Program Files\Warcraft III\Warcraft III.exe" -classic

If any problems arise while running in these modes, please remove the command line extension.
